Hospitality & Privacy
SETUP AND ROUTINE CLEANLINESS
1. The Clinic adds to your privacy by being on an entire floor that is free from other offices being occupied at this time.
2. The therapy space is set up like a living room with an electric fireplace, pillows and blankets, a TV, a glider rocking chair and modern furniture. Feel free to sit where you feel is best for you.
3. Refreshments including Vanilla Biscotti coffee, a variety of teas and water is available, and several sensory calming/stimulation items for anxiety and/or dissociation are at hand.
4. Several floor lamps are set up so the overhead lights can be turned off if fluorescent lighting is difficult for you. This is especially helpful for those who may have a traumatic brain injury.
5. The room is cleaned and disinfected regularly, linens are routinely washed and the garbage cans are emptied frequently.
6. If you are physically able, to best preserve carpeting during the winter months or on wet days it’s appreciated if outdoor footwear could be taken off before entering the room. However, if you struggle with chronic physical pain, PLEASE do not feel pressured to remove your footwear.
7. Disposable masks, hand sanitizer and hand lotion are available especially during cold and flu season.
8. Bathrooms are located on the same floor as the therapy room by the short set of stairs.
9. If you require anything otherwise to feel secure in the room, please let the Clinic know and will accommodate to the best of our ability.
Finding your way here
PARKING
1. Most clients park on Paddock of Cliff Street which allows two hour parking.
2. Waterloo Street only allows 30 minutes of parking because it is a traffic circulation area.
ARRIVAL
1. Travelling somewhere new can feel overwhelming but the Clinic can help you navigate by phone or email. If you arrive late due to feeling stressed, you will not be penalized or persecuted. I can meet you at the door or walk you out if you require an accommodation. The Clinic is here for you.
2. The Clinic is located at 66 Waterloo Street (Waterloo Clinic & Professional Centre). Outside the front door there is a large, grey doorbell to ring which notifies VVCC and other offices that someone is at the door. It may take a few seconds for the buzzer to unlock it. (Please note that the internet connected to the camera or doorbell sometimes has a delay). If you are unable to get in, you can call 506 642 5392.
3. You will go through a set of doors when entering the building. Go straight up the stairs and follow the signs to the Clinic's therapy space.
4. If you arrive more than 10 minutes before your session the Clinic will let you in as soon as possible. Most clients are arriving around five minutes early or on the hour that their appointment begins. Sessions are 50 minutes in length. If you happen to arrive a few minutes late, that is okay.
5. A chair with a sign set up in the same hallway as the therapy room is the current waiting area.
6. The Waterloo Clinic & Professional Centre is in an area where individuals outside might be participating at the harm reduction centre next door, and/or are living on the street. Depending on where you are in your journey and/or recovery, if you require a private conversation for an accommodation during arrival this can be discussed and arranged. The Clinic is here for you.
7. Please note if you decide to park behind the building there may be individuals actively participating in substance use.
Please be advised: VVCC encourages an understanding that it is not a crisis centre for emergency services.
